Yosemite

On Thursday morning the Finns headed out to the Yosemite National Park. The park is located approximately 190 miles east from Hayward. Compared to the Pinecrest we visited earlier, Yosemite is lot more bigger and popular (over 3 point something million visitors every year). The elevation changes between 3,000 and 7,000 feet which basically means 2,2 kilometers.

After we entered the park, a Park Patrol vehicle started to follow us. After five minutes of driving, the Officer flashed her beams and pulled us over. "Ok guys, I pulled you over for number of reasons...". Probably she wasn't that satisfied with the finnish way of handeling a car :) Luckily she just checked our driver's licenses and let us continue our trip.

Due to lack of time, we only visited the Tunnel View and Glacier Point on thursday. But the views were something you cannot believe before you see them by yourself. Elevations, mountains, waterfalls... The view made me feel like I'm in some sort of science fiction movie. Totally amazing.

Later night at our hotel Cedar Lodge, El Portal the weather guy totally surprised us. We had saw some warnings about Winter Storms, but we ignored them totally. On Friday night would snow up to 7 inches and temperature would be as low as 32 fahrenheit (0 celsius). So when we woke up, we noticed that the forecast was accurate. It was cold, trees were snowy and the views even cooler (literally) than on Thursday!

Compared to Pinecrest, we didn't do as much hiking In Yosemite you can basically drive to the view points and then continue to the next one. But you really have to drive. For instance, distance between the Tunnel View and Glacier Point is over 20 miles. I'm not quite sure, but I guess we were pretty lucky. Once the snow came to the ground, they started to close roads in Yosemite. This means that if we wouldn't visited Glacier Point on thursday, we wouldn't be able to see it on Friday!

After Yosemite we drove to Sacramento to see the Capital Bulding of California. It was pretty neat! Tomorrow we will head to Oakland to see some NFL. Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos. The Colosseum is supposed to be sold out, which means almost 40,000 fans!

Las Vegas countdown 24 days ;)
